Importance of Engagement Shoots

Hey everyone! It’s been a wee while since I’ve posted up a blog so I’m determined to make more time to chat to you all about my work, my thoughts and what’s been happening.

One thing I’ve wanted to chat about for a while is engagement/pre wedding shoots and why I feel they’re important. As some of you may know, I offer engagement shoots as a complimentary service along with my full day wedding bookings. It’s basically just a thank you from me to you for trusting in my services and booking me as your wedding photographer! Many of you have taken up this option but there’s still a lot of people who haven’t been interested or dislike the idea of being in front of the camera too much.

I completely understand your reasonings if you’re not too bothered about some extra pictures but I really do feel that these shoot sessions can offer so much more. It’s a chance for us all to get to know one another better as we’ll be spending a lot of time together on your wedding day but it’s also a good way of maybe allowing you to relax a bit more about your photography on the day itself. It will be the most heavily photographed day of your life, with the both of you as the prime subjects of the day. I know a lot of people find the camera daunting because most of us aren’t in front of the camera very often, if at all (I know I’m not as I’m so used to being the picture taker).

With this in mind, I hope you’ll consider this option in the future… even if I’m not your photographer, go for it! So what if you’re a bit nervous, giggly or awkward? We’ll have a laugh and we’ll make memories for you guys doing so. It’s all about having fun during this crazy thing called life. It’s not perfect but it’s pretty beautiful :)
