In August 2023, I had the pleasure of photographing Ailsa & Steven’s wedding at The Waterside in Ayrshire! It’s a local venue for me but it had been a while since I last visited, so I was excited to be back. There were dark clouds at points in the morning but the sun managed to break through! We had such beautiful weather that I thought I might burn at points! Along with topping up on some suncream, I arrived in the morning for a wander and to start photographing prep.

Ailsa & Steven hired Enlighten My Day to decorate their ceremony and reception area. It looks gorgeous! I’d never seen the ceremony area decorated like this before but it made me a very happy photographer! Such beautiful pink tones.

Ailsa’s Dad not only had the honour of walking his daughter down the aisle but he also had the honour of marrying her as well! He’s a minister and I thought this was such a lovely, personal touch to the day.

That post ceremony buzz!! I love it, what a feeling it is to walk down the aisle as a married couple. It was then time to head outside for the drinks reception and more photos! I love wandering around at this point, capturing everything that’s going on while trying to blend into the background.

Sneaking in some fun photos of the boys as well! Love it when everyone grabs a beer and has a laugh with the photos. Don’t take yourself too seriously!

We then made our way onto the beach for some photos with the girls and for some couples photos! I love how short the walk is but how it allows you to briefly get away from the hustle and bustle of the day. Take everything in, breathe and then head back in for more fun!

Back in now for the speeches and the reception! Isn’t Ailsa’s dress from Dream Brides just gorgeous?
